Abstract

Errors in translation are sometimes due to the translator's incompetence in some aspects of linguistics. The purpose of this article is to emphasise the importance of developing such competence by teaching translation as a skill in producing an equivalent pragmatic effect in translation of Russian implicit means of expression of negation and to demonstrate some particularities of modality in Russian negation.
