Abstract
At Georgics IV, 116-148 Virgil presents his personal memory of a natural edenic corner of happiness, protected and cared for by a lonely old man, the 'old man from Coryx'. Some aspects of the meeting between Virgil and the farmer remain unexpressed. This shadowy area of the narrative is explored by Pascoli in his poem Senex Corycius, where he reconstructs, with competence and familiarity, the contours of the episode.
