De pauore uersus seiungendi. "Riscoperta" del verso melico greco (Böck 1811) e la sua ricezione novecentesca

Abstract

Il ‘sistema’ sticometrico böckhiano ha avuto una fortuna debordante e pressoché esclusiva e, ancor più nel secolo appena trascorso che nel periodo immediatamente successivo alla sua formulazione, generazioni di interpreti hanno provveduto a estenderne l’applicazione ai testi ‘melici’ che il grande filologo non aveva espressamente indagato, in primis le sezioni cantate del dramma. In quanto segue si tenterà ora una solo abbozzata indagine sulla continuità del metodo böckiano proprio nel testo da cui esso è originato, gli Epinici pindarici. Con l’aiuto di alcuni esempi è chiaro che non solo nelle sticometrie di sezioni meliche, specie drammatiche, non esplicitamente organizzate da Böckh, ma persino nella lirica corale, dove egli aveva instaurato il suo nuovo metodo, la pratica analitica dei suoi successori è andata soggetta alle medesime incomprensioni di esso, spesso per difetto di rilettura diretta delle sue chiare pagine d’analisi.

The Böckh’s stichometric 'system' had a fortune almost exclusively, and even more in the century that just ended rather than in the period immediately after its formulation, generation of interpreters have taken to extend the coverage to the melic texts that the great philologist had not specifically investigated, firstly the sung sections of the drama. In what follows we will attempt now only sketched survey on the continuity of the method of Böckh in the text from which it originates, the Pindar’s Epinicia. With the help of some examples it is clear that not only in stichometries of melic sections, particularly tragic, not explicitly organized by Böckh, but even in the choral lyric, where he introduced his new method, the analytic practice of his successors has been subject to the same misunderstandings of it, often for lack of a direct reading of its clear pages of analysis.
