| Abstract: | The paper deals with transport infrastructure, seen as a key factor in sustaining high levels of regional competitiveness. After reviewing some theoretical issues and providing some empirical evidence on the impact of infrastructure on regional growth, I focus on the impact of advanced transportation system as a fundamental attribute to link up with the growing internationalization of markets by analyzing the case of Duisburg port and the Transrapid railway. |
