L'atrofia che ha colpito la civiltà araba e musulmana si è verificata spesso nella storia umana e ha colpito puntualmente ogni volta che un utopismo (materialista, religioso o razzista) si è impadronito dello spazio e del tempo, della ratio e dell’immaginario collettivo di una civiltà. L’utopia è regina finché si rifugia nei libri o si isola dalla società; ma quando l’utopismo si azzarda sulla scacchiera della storia, il vero problema diventa il potere. Vi è una forma di nazionalismo pan-arabo che percepisce l’unità per giustapposizione e assimilazione. Vi è una forma d’islamismo che percepisce l’unità per sottomissione. La legittimità di una entità politica dipenderà, sempre di più, dalla sua capacità di declinare l’unità nella diversità.

Elham Kallab è una donna libanese che ha lottato “per le donne e con le donne”, una donna che nel suo piccolo ha saputo fare la differenza, una donna che potrebbe assomigliare alle nostre nonne, alle nostre madri, alle nostre sorelle. Attraverso le sue piccole battaglie quotidiane è riuscita a dare voce a tutte quelle donne che “non potevano alzare la voce, non potevano affermarsi o rivendicare i propri diritti”.

Elie Bérézine, professeur de langues orientales à l’Université de Kazan et Saint Pétersbourg, effectua entre (1842-1845) une mission de recherche en Orient, avec en main une dizaine de dialogues qu’il exposait à ses informateurs «anonymes», comme c’est le cas de plusieurs voyageurs en «Orient» pour qu’ils les traduisent. Plus tard (1857) il publia les résultats de cette mission dans son 'Guide du voyageur en Orient...' en y exposant d’abord ses dialogues (pp. 5-14), puis leurs traductions dans les dialectes de Bagdad (pp. 30-48), d’Alep (pp. 49-72) et du Caire (pp. 73-95). Le privilège de ce travail c’est d’avoir annoté le corpus en alphabet arabe transcrit en alphabet latin. Rares sont les spécimens de ce texte, publié par l’impr. de l’Univ. Impériale de Moscou et Saint-Petersbourg comme un mis au point de nouveaux matériels pour l’apprentissage des dialectes néo-arabes pour les voyageurs en «Orient». Le but de ce projet, laissant aux arabisants d’approfondir les aspects linguistiques qu’ils préfèrent, est celui de reposer l’oeuvre de Bérézine d’une manière mieux consultable aux chercheurs, rangeant d’une manière synoptique son questionnaire et ses dialogues, faisant suivre chaque énoncé de son questionnaire français, de ses variétés de Baghdad, Alep et du Caire; de rendre plus lisible ses transcriptions latines effectuées de façon aléatoire; d’illustrer certains traits linguistiques qui distinguaient entre eux ces dialectes au 19ème siècle; d’évaluer le but de sa mission et la crédibilité de son corpus linguistique.

The author accuses Arab glottodidactics of ideological compIicity with the political systems of the Arab countries and of a leveling of the cultural and linguistic reality, by adopting the archaic and anachronistic motto: "one nation, one language." Indeed, beneath the apparent linguistic homogeneity of Arabic, the fragmentation of the oral language should not be underestimated. In designing a possible project for the teaching of Arabic in the Italian schools, it is necessary, first of all, to define who the recipients are and what their needs are, in order then to be able to evaluate the adequacy of the variety or varieties of the language to be taught, of the teaching aids and methods to be used, the level and types of competence to be reached, and the tools to be developed for testing such competence. The author then draws up a profile of the teaching staff, illustrates and evaluates the French and American experiences in this field, and suggests creating a European Association of Teachers of Arabic (EATA), while expressing the hope that such a project will be realistic, secular and pluralistic in nature.
