This article aims to offer a reflection on the role of community schools of heritage languages. Through a discussion on linguistic policies, on the acquisition and maintenance of heritage languages, and on the basis of data collected from an online questionnaire, it will be possible to verify the state-of-the-art of the educational context involving the teaching of some languages present in the city of Florence. In this context, immigrant communities are trying to find a place where they can teach their languages and cultures to the second generation of Italians, that is, girls and boys born in Italy with a migration background.
