The genre is undoubtedly one of the most interesting themes in history since it deals with elements related to culture. In textbooks the female gender is represented in most situations as submissive to the man and in which the woman plays a secondary role in the daily storytelling. The Author proposes to reflect on the representation of women in the textbooks of history of the Brazilian secondary school, underlining the concept of gender and discrimination.

The Author describes the horticultural practices of the mebengokré, an Amerindian people of central Brazil (Pará), with reference to the choice of place, sowing, harvesting, but also to the symbolic aspects and social experience. The hypothesis is that the introduction of new crops and their subsequent circulation contribute to producing not only food, but also properly mebengokré people.

After becoming an independent nation in 1830, Venezuela needed a precise geographical representation of its territory in order to contrast eventual diplomatic claims advanced by the bordering countries of Latin America. The chosen man to realize this difficult operation of geographical mapping was Agostino Codazzi, an Italian veteran of the Napoleonic period who became the head of the Corographic Commission that explored the entire territory of Venezuela.

The Author proposes some simple reflections on the evolution of the Venezuelan regime from the establishment of Chavismo to the Maduro presidency.
