Aim & scope

The series Pamphlet on Teaching Architecture. Words, Ideas, Methods, Projects was born as a streamlined institutional publication of the Master degree in Architecture at the University of Trieste, always integrated with the corpus of exhibitions and teaching activities organized by courses and workshops that have as their focus on the architectural design, in all its possible manifestations and declinations.
Pamphlet is not simply the catalog of an exhibition, or even a mini didactic monograph with independent scientific value, but is intended, above all, as an essential component of the exhibitions, or more generally of the didactic "events," which introduces the topics, offers previews of the most experimental didactic outcomes, and reports ex-post reflections in a critical-theoretical form with "mini-essays," concise and forthright.
A well-reasoned selection of images of didactic explorations, accompanied by short texts that aim directly at the most central issues of project pedagogy, underline aspects of experimentation, and offer primarily to the "visitor," but then also to the readers, the most illustrative extracts of didactics experiments, that is also scientific research.
Pamphlet is born with exhibitions and events, and is an integrated part of the project of scientific popularization of the most innovative outcomes, or able to re-read and reinterpret, renovating the didactics of architecture.
For these reasons Pamphlet takes the traditional in-octave format as a dimensional limitation. It is a simple but strict rule that the didactics publishing series project itself, a project within a project, is given to: 1) search "extreme synthesis" as a communicative outcome, an exploration of languages and visual arts; 2) work on the "selection of the significant" as a method, tool and approach always underlying the project.


Each issue of Pamphlet has, from time to time, the ideal intellectual patronage of the most significant schools and the material inspiration and spiritual appeal of the greatest experimenters in the field of design in the twentieth century.

Pamphlet is an integral part of the on-teaching exhibitions that are organized “in and with” the collaboration of the University Library of the Gorizia campus.
