Editorial policy
Quaderni CIRD is the six-monthly multidisciplinary Journal of the Interdepartmental Centre for Educational Research of the University of Trieste (CIRD) (http://www.cird.units.it) which publishes online open access since 2010 with EUT Edizioni Università di Trieste (https://www.eut.units.it). The journal is included by ANVUR, the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes, in the lists of Journals for the Scientific Disciplinary Sectors 10 and 11, relevant to be awarded the ASN (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale), the Italian National Scientific Qualification to become Associate Professor or Full Professor. In addition, contributions related to mathematics are indexed by MathEduc - Mathematics Education Database, FIZ Karlsruhe.
Mission
The journal is intended as a dynamic instrument of national and international dissemination of research, proposals and innovative teaching experiences in primary, secondary and higher education, with the following main purposes:
- to increase interest and open attitude in different disciplines and to promote in-depth study of their related teaching problems;
- to establish a fruitful confrontation between the various educational sectors and search for a common language;
- to favour the planning of innovative vertical and interdisciplinary didactic paths;
- to promote interactions and collaboration between school and university;
- to improve the initial and ongoing training processes for teachers of all disciplines and levels through comparison with training systems in other countries, in order to promote new useful tools that invite reflection on teaching and learning processes;
- to encourage international dissemination of teaching research activities undertaken by the Interdepartmental Centre and to develop new forms of collaboration with other similar centres operating in other countries.
The journal publishes twice per year and includes original Italian and foreign contributions on innovative teaching research. Articles in all disciplines and fields of education at primary, secondary and higher level education are published. The contributions concern teachers’ activities with CIRD and promote CIRD projects and initiatives. The journal also publishes reviews of: books, cartographic and multimedia aids and software, national and international websites of teaching interest. It also publishes monographic issues on events organised by CIRD or dedicated to specific disciplinary and interdisciplinary topics.
All contributions are published under a Creative Commons License (NonCommercial – No Derivatives 4.0 International, see https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/deed.it.
The journal guarantees the authors’s intellectual property of their contributions. Authors who wish to have their articles reprinted in an edited volume or authored monograph are kindly requested to inform the journal’s editor in chief and acknowledge prior publication in the journal.

Review procedures
The contributions received for publication are first examined and submitted for prior approval to the Editorial board, which works to this end in agreement with the Editor in chief.
The Editorial Board, made up of a group of scholars with a strong multidisciplinary profile, first of all examines the compatibility of the proposals with the editorial policy of the journal. Once this phase is over, the Editorial Board identifies two reviewers, expert in the field, who give an analytical assessment of the quality of the submitted works. The double blind revision process (see Revision Guidelines) should ascertain the originality, correctness, potential innovation and educational relevance of the submitted contributions; and exclude forms of plagiarism or the presence of content in conflict or not relevant to the editorial line of the journal. In addition, no expressions or content that could be offensive to readers will be published.
The authors must also guarantee the originality of the contributions submitted for publication (see the Author’s Preliminary Declaration Form).
The Editorial Committee monitors the objectivity of the opinions of the reviewers with particular attention to possible conflicts of interest in order to safeguard editorial ethics. If a conflict of interest arises during the review process, the reviewer will be replaced. In case of conflicting opinions, a third reviewer will be used and the Scientific Committee will be consulted when necessary. The final decision rests with the Editor in chief, after consultation with the Editorial Board and the Scientific Committee. The opinions expressed in QuaderniCird are those of the authors and do not reflect opinions or views of the Editor in chief, the Editorial Board or the Scientific Committee.
The right to confidentiality of all parties involved in the publication process is guaranteed, as well as the transparency of the procedures. The contributions accepted for publication are re-checked and, if necessary, revised by the Editorial Board from the point of view of their consistency with the editorial standards. Authors can download the style sheet from the website in advance.
