Abstract
The article explores the interrelation between the Russian and Dutch languages starting from translated literature. The introduction is dedicated to the Russische Bibliotheek, a book series by Van Oorschot dedicated entirely to Russian literature, and is followed by the comparative case study of the Dutch translations of stanza XXXIV, chapter VII of A.S. Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin. The commentary on the choices made by the various translators takes into account the peculiarities of the stanza, as well as Dutch criticism. The linguistic analysis leads to a broader reflection on the potential of intercultural studies regarding the Russian- Dutch language couple, up to this point untapped in Italian.
