Abstract
The author discusses the concept of microcosm, which he presents as an
identity niche made of relationships, sensual experiences, actions, space,
time, memory, habitus and language. In his view, a microcosm is the physical
and cultural place of normality, where knowledge is created and transmitted,
while knowledge is what builds up the very basis of identity. Through some
examples the author explains the usefulness and importance of this investigative
perspective.
