Abstract
This essay analyzes the political strategies in favor of the Italian cause deployed by the Liberal-National Party of Trieste, which governed the city between the Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries. The group, linked to Freemasonry and the ruling class of the Kingdom of Savoy, championed the cause of Adriatic Italianness in institutional settings, careful to remain within the law, attempting a difficult but successful balance between the practical needs of trade and patriotic ideals.
