Abstract
Translations are hermeneutic acts whose procedures are historically determined. They pertain to the intercultural appropriation process of foreign knowledge and ideas. The translation of Hölderlin’s poems sheds a new light on the written text, it enables to capture the strangeness of the verses. By starting with the necessary translation practices needed for a passage of the poem "Dichterberuf" by Hölderlin, the essay illustrates how every translation should embark itself in an interpretative task which carries several discursive levels with itself, from the linguistic to the historical-cultural one. Moreover, the deficiencies in the department of Translation Studies, based on the presupposition of equivalence, is highlighted through a passage from Hölderlin’s poem "Hälfte des Lebens".
Sulla base delle procedure necessarie alla traduzione di un passo della poesia "Dichterberuf" di Hölderlin, si mostra come ogni traduzione debba cimentarsi con un compito interpretativo che chiama in causa molteplici livelli discorsivi, da quello linguistico a quello storico-culturale. L’insufficienza di una traduttologia basata sul presupposto dell’equivalenza è inoltre evidenziata sulla base di un passaggio della poesia "Hälfte des Lebens".
