Abstract
In different periods, Pliny the Elder and Justin recount the legend of the Colchians’ passage through Istria, associating it with the origins of the Istrian people. The purpose of this study is to identify the points of convergence between the two sources as well as the elements of originality in relation to ancient tradition, in order to demonstrate that both derive from a common literary tradition. Furthermore, the paper advances a set of arguments to support the hypothesis that Timagenes of Alexandria served as one of their sources of inspiration.
