Abstract
The achievement of a higher speed is one of the most important characteristics of advanced vessel for passenger water transport. Nowadays the technological development of water transport has made possible to establish efficient water transport systems serving metropolitan areas. In the Gulf of Naples high speed water transport is very important for islands-mainland connection in this area, from an economic viewpoint, the market can be represented by an oligopolistic model. The increase of demand for urban water transport comes from the upgrading of quality level of the supply, from an adequate and articulated fare structure and from an efficient connection with other local transport services. In order to determine the level of customer satisfaction achieved by an urban water transport line can be used the "Frequency Delay" method that estimates the quality based upon the frequency of departures.
