Abstract
Shipping is not exempt from the environmental problem. Shipping can and needs to further improve its environmental performances. Besides, due to the deployment of larger and larger vessels, with higher capacity intake, with hulls and engines more efficient, during last decades Shipping has significantly reduced polluting emissions per unit transported, representing today the more sustainable transport mode. For instance, newest RoRo vessels reduced their CO2 emissions per unit transported by around 70% compared to RoRo vessels built in the ‘80s.
