Abstract
The article presents the medieval wallpaintings ofthe church of San Lorenzo in Villuzza (small village in the
municipality of Ragogna), discovered in 1976 after the earthquake in Friuli.
These are fragments of various sites (some large, some very small) belonging to a building that was originally
completely-painted inside.
The author provides iconographie and stylistic analysis, highlighting the very close relations with Kanfanar
in Istria.
Dating from the early eleventh century, they are one of the oldest pictorial evidence of the early Middle Ages in
the ancient Patriarchate of Aquileia.
