Abstract
This paper arises on the need to go beyond the national borders in search of different, but to some extent similar experiences in school teacher training at all levels of education. The experience of the Canton of Ticino provides a good example of a different teacher training proposal, linked to the Italian one by an educational tradition based on shared principles and by the same use and teaching language. The paper illustrates the specificity of the training system for kindergarten, elementary, lower and upper secondary teachers. After a brief introduction to the training system used in the Canton of Ticino, the paper also focuses on the training of future teachers and, in particular, on mathematics teachers.
