Abstract
Transport geography examines the movement of goods, people, and information, aiming to understand the relationships between spatial constraints and the key characteristics of flows, such as origin, destination, nature, and purpose. Within this framework, the present research focuses on air transport, specifically analyzing the role of transit destinations— territories that serve as connection points between origin and final destination. Middle Eastern airports are selected as a case study to delve deeper into this topic. The study is structured around a review of literature on distance, location, and the impacts of transport, followed by an analysis of recent dynamics in the air transport sector within the Middle Eastern region. The aim is to highlight how this geographic area has evolved into a significant transit hub within the global air transport network.
