Gloria e vanagloria
Vigna, Carmelo

Abstract
Glory (“clara notitia cum laude” according to Saint Ambrose) can never be a goal for us because it happens only as a complement of the achieved goal. And we achieve the goal, being for others. Glory therefore could be a means, if any, used to achieve the goal. To search for one’s own glory means, in itself, to be in vainglory.
