L'italiano parlato nell'interpretazione. Un caso specifico: gli ambiti d'impiego dei dimostrativi

Abstract
Undeniably, interpreters produce oral texts; however, few studies have tried to define the characteristics of Italian texts produced in the interpreting booth. This analysis of a corpus of simultaneous and consecutive interpretations produced by university students has focussed on both endophoric and esophoric demonstratives as means to ensure text cohesion and coherence. The high frequency of demonstratives may be explained with reference to two factors: on one hand, the interpreters’ need for subdividing the contents of the source text into more “manageable” chunks for an easier planning of the target text; on the other hand, the interpreters’ effort to make the message more explicit to their audience.
