La poliorcetica come chiave interpretativa dell’India–Middle East– Europe Economic Corridor
Polyorchetics as a interpretative key to the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor

Abstract
In the current geostrategic competition, transcontinen¬tal transportation infrastructures emerge as decisive in¬struments of power projection. This contribution proposes an interpretation that integrates Spykman’s Rimland theo¬ry with the concept of “breach” borrowed from poliorchet¬ics, transposing it to the analysis of global connectivity networks. In this perspective, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is conceptualized as a multilevel “fortification” aimed at consolidating Chinese influence in the Rimland area of influence, while the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC) is identified as the strategic “breach” that fits into a relatively less consolidated segment in order to destabilize the BRI intermodal system. The methodology is elaborated by applying concepts transposed from the art of sieges, identifying three differ¬ent phases for the identification, modeling and opening of the breach. The study highlights how IMEC exploits geo¬political and infrastructural asymmetries to circumvent critical choke points such as Hormuz and Suez, diversify Indo-European connectivity, and challenge the BRI’s logis¬tical hegemony.
