Abstract
The recent growing demand for tourism in the Loreto Region, presents an opportunity to improve the economic situation of the inhabitants of the area. One of the touristic activities having a continuous growth, are the river cruises along the Amazon River and its tributaries. Currently there are eight vessels engaged in this business area, that make the routes from Iquitos to native villages, national parks and reserves, giving tourists the possibility to observe the great biodiversity proper of this region and unique in the world. Existing vessels making these journeys do not have a suitable design or sufficient services and comfort on board to satisfy passengers’ expectations. These aspects limit the reach and growth of higher quality tourism, as well as leaving aside the ecological factor. Taking into account these factors, an innovative cruise ship concept design has been made. The structural design has been developed according to state of the art inland navigation rules. The hull forms have been chosen taking into account typical hull forms of the region. The services and comfort on board have been greatly considered to offer a better cruise experience to the passengers. This touristic cruise ship has been designed to represent a reference point for future developments and cruise ship designs in the Amazon basin.
La creciente demanda turística en la Región Loreto en los últimos años, presenta una oportunidad para mejorar la situación económica de los pobladores de la zona. Una de las actividades turísticas que crece cada vez más, son las travesías por el río Amazonas y sus afluentes. Actualmente existen ocho embarcaciones dedicadas al rubro, que realizan rutas desde Iquitos hasta pueblos indígenas, parques y reservas naturales, dando la posibilidad al turista de observar la gran biodiversidad, propia de la región y única en el mundo. Las embarcaciones que actualmente realizan estas travesías no cuentan con el diseño adecuado o con suficientes servicios y comodidades a bordo. Estos aspectos limitan el alcance y crecimiento del turismo de mayor calidad, además de dejar de lado al factor ecológico. Teniendo en cuenta estos factores, se ha realizado el diseño innovador de un crucero. El diseño estructural se ha desarrollado siguiendo las más actuales normas para buques de navegación interna. Las formas de la carena se han escogido teniendo en cuenta las carenas típicas de la región. Se ha pensado cuidadosamente en el diseño de los servicios y confort a bordo para ofrecer una mejor experiencia a los pasajeros. Este buque crucero turístico se ha diseñado para ser un punto de referencia para futuros desarrollos y diseños de buques crucero en la Amazonía.
