Abstract
The expository-argumentative approach to investigate current issues which is required by the new Type C of State Examination, one of the three tracks for the first national written test, needs an integrated reading/writing approach. Besides accuracy and coherence in language, this approach implies critical reasoning on the issues involved and the addresser’s responsibility towards his/her addressees. This contribution aims to show how and why argumentative writing can draw on literature. In fact, literature can foster self-awareness and awareness of the others, thus fostering the ability to choose and debate.
La riflessione critica di carattere espositivo-argomentativo su tematiche di attualità, richiesta dalla tipologia C del nuovo Esame di Stato al termine del secondo ciclo di istruzione, legittima come le altre due una didattica integrata di lettura e scrittura. Oltre all’uso accorto della lingua e alla coerenza dei procedimenti ragionativi e ideativi, essa presuppone il giudizio critico sulla complessità del reale e la responsabilità del confronto con la comunità dei destinatari. Il contributo esemplifica come e perché la scrittura argomentativa può avvalersi della letteratura: alimentando la coscienza di sé e dell’altro, essa sostiene le capacità di scegliere e di argomentarne le ragioni.
