Abstract
This paper analyses diachronically the tendency to avoid ending a word that begins in the first foot at the second trochee/biceps in Greek hexameter (Meyer’s First Law/Giseke’s Law). Typologies and sub-typologies of violation are detected, by examining the behaviour of appositives at the bridge at the second trochee/biceps. Based on these typologies and sub-typologies, trends in the technique of versification are identified by analysing a sample of texts from the Archaic Age to Late Antiquity.
Il contributo intende fornire un’analisi diacronica della tendenza a evitare fine di parola iniziante nel primo metron al secondo trocheo/biceps (prima legge di Meyer/legge di Giseke). Esaminando il comportamento della parola metrica in corrispondenza del ponte al secondo trocheo/biceps, si identificano tipologie e sotto-tipologie di violazione. Sulla base di tali tipologie/sotto-tipologie, si individuano usus versificatori, valutati in senso diacronico dall’età arcaica alla tarda antichità.
