Immigration Policies and the 'Unbearable Lightness' of Integration: The Case of Pre-Entry Integration Requirements in Europe

Abstract
From a comparative point of view, the author deals with the well-established phenomenon of the imposition, by many EU immigration countries, of linguistic and civic integration tests for migrants as pre-entry integration requirements. Given that the success of integration policies depends in a large extent on the recognition of social rights, further case studies are addressed to these rights in Spain, Ireland and Italy.
Da un punto di vista comparativo, l'autore affronta il fenomeno consolidato dell'imposizione, da parte di molti paesi dell'immigrazione dell'UE, di test linguistici e civili per i migranti come requisiti di integrazione pre-ingresso. Dato che il successo delle politiche di integrazione dipende in larga misura dal riconoscimento dei diritti sociali, altri casi di studio sono dedicati a questi diritti in Spagna, Irlanda e Italia.
