Platone divino maestro in un testo isagogico tardo-antico

Abstract

Il concetto di μίμησις è al centro della filosofia di Platone ed è indispensabile non solo per comprendere le idee di rappresentazione verbale e visuale nella storia dell’estetica antica; esso è essenziale anche nella storia del neoplatonismo e delle scuole della tarda antichità. Scopo del presente 'paper' è indagare il ruolo della μίμησις in un testo isagogico tardo-antico. Nei 'Prolegomena', ossia nell’introduzione a Platone e ai suoi dialoghi in uso nella scuola neoplatonica di Alessandria nella metà del VI sec. d.C., l’analisi di contesti in cui appare il termine μίμησις è utile per capire il significato metafisico che acquista l’insegnamento di Platone.

The concept of μίμησις lies at the core of Plato’s philosophy and it is not only indispensable for any understanding of views of verbal and visual representation in the history of ancient aesthetics; it is also essential for the history of Neoplatonism and of the schools of late antiquity. Accordingly, the aim of the present paper is to investigate the role of μίμησις in a Late Antique isagogical text. In the 'Prolegomena', which is to say the introduction to Plato and his dialogues that was in use in the Neoplatonist school of Alexandria in the mid-6th cent. AD., the analysis of the textual contexts in which the term μίμησις appears is useful to understand the metaphysical meaning of Plato’s teaching.
