Abstract
Formal theories of location have become a fundamental tool for metaphysicians in the study of various topics, ranging from the nature of properties to the persistence of objects over time. The present theme aims to showcase the construction and development of a formal theory of location, as well as the theoretical desiderata such a theory should meet. To do so, we will first present the theories of locations formulated by Parsons. We will then analyse a portion of the discussion generated by certain locative principles expressed within these theories. Finally, we will introduce an alternative theory of location, developed by Loss, which should be immune to such problems.
Le teorie formali della localizzazione sono diventate uno strumento fondamentale per i metafisici nello studio di vari argomenti, dalla natura delle proprietà alla persistenza degli oggetti nel tempo. Questa tema ha l’obiettivo di mostrare la costruzione e lo sviluppo di una teoria formale della localizzazione, nonché quali siano i desiderata teorici che una tale teoria dovrebbe soddisfare. Per fare ciò, saranno anzitutto esposte le teorie della localizzazione formulate da Parsons. Si analizzerà poi un frammento della discussione generata da alcuni principi locativi in queste espressi. Infine, sarà presentata una teoria alternativa della localizzazione, sviluppata da Loss, che promette di essere immune da tali problemi.
