Abstract
The article deals with Claudian’s Praefatio to the Panegyric for Honorius’s 6th Consulate, showing its role in the development of the history of the Lebensbilder theme in Latin literature and emphasising its connection to certain places in Lucretius and Horace. The article then asserts the absence of any demonstrable dependence of Claudianus on Petronius with regard to this particular theme.
L’articolo tratta della Praefatio di Claudiano al Panegirico per il VI Consolato di Onorio, mostrando il suo ruolo nello sviluppo della storia del tema dei Lebensbilder nella letteratura latina e mettendo in luce il suo legame con alcuni luoghi di Lucrezio e Orazio. L’articolo inoltre nega una dipendenza dimostrabile di Claudiano da Petronio per quanto riguarda tale tema specifico.
