Abstract
To mark its centenary, celebrated in the academic year 2023-2024, and for the first time on the Italian university scene, the University of Trieste has launched an artist residency project, opening its doors to eleven artists from the contemporary scene, hosted for a week in the Student House. The aim of the initiative, entitled #SBLAD - Shine Bright Like A Diamond, was to recount through the artist's gaze the richness and complexity inherent in every discipline, the uniqueness and versatility of the human being. The artists, hosted by the ten Departments, lived in close contact with the students, lecturers and researchers of the University and were inspired to create an original artistic work in the form of installation, performing art, drawing, sound design, sculpture, photography and painting. The project has been curated by Eva Comuzzi, contemporary art historian, lecturer and curator, specialising in the work of the younger generation of artists.
In occasione del suo centenario, celebrato nell'anno accademico 2023-2024, e per la prima volta nel panorama universitario italiano, l’Università degli Studi di Trieste ha avviato un progetto di residenze d’artista, aprendo le sue porte a undici artisti della scena contemporanea, ospitati per una settimana nella Casa dello studente. Obiettivo dell’iniziativa, dal titolo #SBLAD – Shine Bright Like A Diamond, è stato raccontare attraverso lo sguardo dell’artista la ricchezza e la complessità insite in ogni disciplina, l’unicità e la poliedricità dell’essere umano. Le artiste e gli artisti, ospitati dai dieci Dipartimenti, hanno vissuto a stretto contatto con gli studenti, i docenti e i ricercatori dell’Università e tratto ispirazione per realizzare un’opera artistica originale nella forma di installazione, performing art, disegno, sound design, scultura, fotografia e pittura. Il progetto è stato curato da Eva Comuzzi, storica dell’arte contemporanea, docente e curatrice, specializzata nell’operato delle giovani generazioni di artisti.
