Abstract
This issue opens with a special section devoted to the image of women from Communist Eastern Europe in Western European mass media and public discourse during the Cold War. Through a range of case studies, the contri¬butions examine the relationship between ideology, emancipation, and repre¬sentation in socialist and non-aligned countries, highlighting their tensions, contradictions, and transnational dimensions. A second section explores the various forms of Italian presence in the Pontic and Carpathian-Danubian regions between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, reconstructing the cultural, economic, and migratory networks that connected Italy with the Black Sea area. The volume is completed by essays on public memory and the construction of local identities, as well as contributions addressing key issues in contemporary European history.
Il fascicolo si apre con una sezione monografica dedicata all’immagine della donna dell’Europa comunista nei mass media e nei discorsi pubblici dell’Europa occidentale durante la Guerra fredda. Attraverso casi di studio diversi, i contributi analizzano il rapporto tra ideologia, emancipazione e rappresentazione nei paesi socialisti e non allineati, mettendone in luce tensioni, contraddizioni e dimensioni transnazionali. Una seconda sezione esplora le molteplici forme della presenza italiana nello spazio pontico e carpatico-danubiano tra Otto e Novecento, ricostruendo reti culturali, economiche e migratorie che collegavano il mondo italiano all’area del Mar Nero. Completano il volume saggi dedicati alla memoria pubblica e alla costruzione delle identità locali, nonché contributi su alcuni nodi centrali della storia europea contemporanea.
