Abstract
Il presente contributo vuole presentare una panoramica dei dati epigrafici provenienti dai più recenti ritrovamenti subacquei che la Soprintendenza del Mare della Regione Sicilia ha effettuato nei primi dieci anni di attività dalla sua istituzione nel 2004. Si tratta di reperti, editi ed inediti, che provengono sia eia scavi ed indagini sistematici (Relitto di Porto Palo di Menfi, Relitto di Scauri di Pantelleria, Relitto di Panarea 3, Sito della Battaglia delle Egadi), sia da ritrovamenti fortuiti e consegne spontanee da parte di subacquei e pescatori (Canale di Sicilia). Nella maggior parte dei casi sono oggetti di uso corrente (anfore, lucerne) che documentano taluni aspetti della vita quotidiana, attraverso elementi utili alla datazione e all'individuazione dei processi produttivi e delle relazioni di scambio che intercorrono tra alcune località costiere ed isolane della Sicilia e il resto del Mediterraneo occidentale, soprattutto Nord Africa ed Italia continentale, dall'età punica e greca alla tarda romanità.
This paper aims to present an overview of the epigraphic data from the most recent underwater finds that the Soprintendenza del Mare (Underwater Cultural Heritage Agency) of the Sicilian Region has made in the first ten years of its inception in 2004. These finds, published and unpublished, come both from systematic surveys and excavations (the Wreck of Porto Palo - Menfi, the Wreck of Scauri - Pantelleria, the Wreck of Panarea 3, the site of the Battle of Aegadian lslands), both from chance discoveries and spontaneous deliveries by divers and fishermen (Strait of Sicily). In most cases, they are objects of common use (amphorae, oil lamps) documenting certain aspects of daily life, through elements for the dating and the identification of the production processes and the exchange relations that existed between some coastal towns and the island of Sicily and the rest of the western Mediterranean, especially North Africa and mainland Italy, from the Punic and Greek period to the late Roman.
